An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Purchaser and Supply Chain Liaison to join the team, and would suit a candidate who is enthusiastic to develop their career in purchasing together with document control responsibilities client side. You will be well supported by the senior managers and directors and be trained to take on the responsibility of purchasing and supply chain management for the company.
Some work experience is preferred, either in account management or purchasing/procurement, but we will also consider fresh graduates with a relevant degree.
The role:
- After a period of training, you'll take on responsibility for all the company purchasing, ensuring all costs are within budgets and targets are met.
- Controlling company purchasing including supply chain negotiation and liaison to meet project deadlines, overseeing cost control, variations to contract and close monitoring of site programme against lead times.
- You will monitor and report internally on project costs to ensure contract conditions are adhered to and maintain reporting on contract costings.
- You will plan, organise, direct and control the purchasing functions for all products and/or services on behalf of the project managers.
- Developing, evaluation and monitoring of supplier relationships.
About you:
The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, eager to learn quickly and take on responsibility. We are also looking for:
- Great IT skills including Excel and Word. Experience of Sage accounting software, project management and programming software is desirable.
- Flexible, adaptable, a team player and problem solver with an eye for controlled budgets.
- Ability to multitask - prioritising tasks and workload effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience gained in a similar company would be advantageous, including general building contractors, subcontractors, civil engineering firms, interior designers and/or building merchants.
This is a full time, permanent position based about 5 miles from central Chester, applicants will need to drive and have access to reliable transport.
