Location: Commutable within and around Exeter and North Devon

Business area: Kier Utilities - South West Water NSA Framework


Permanent- Full Time- 45 hours week.

Working in an alliance with one of the leading Water Utility companies in the UK, this is an exciting opportunity for a customer facing Operative to work within our Utilities work stream, working on the South West Water Contract helping to deliver the Developer Services side of the business.

No day will be the same in this crucial role where most of your time will be spent out travelling to and from sites making deliveries and collections of materials and pipe work. Other duties will include installing marker posts and taking part in Hand overs upon job completion. This role will report to the delivery manager and will require the effective utilisation of time and resources to meet delivery programmes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for personal and site safety.
  • Carry out general delivery duties as instructed by the Team Leader and/or FLM.
  • Operate and maintain at least two pieces of plant, drive vans, tipper trucks.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant Safety, Health and Environmental legislation, business policy & procedure and local instruction & guidance.
  • Ensure full and correct use of vehicles, plant and materials, keeping wastage to a minimum.
  • Installation of Mark posts and plates
  • Complete hand overs with South West Water and Developer representatives
  • Deliver Fittings to and from site either in a Tipper Truck or HGV
  • Any ad-hoc duties that may occur as instructed by the management team or team leader / ganger.
Skills and experience required:

  • FULL UK driving licence Preferably HGV
  • Towing Licence B+E
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Manual Handling Training
  • Excavation Experience
  • Water industry experience (Pipe and Fittings)
  • NRSWA Operative
