Supervisor within our Roads/ Highways surfacing

Breedon are currently seeking a Supervisor within our Roadway surfacing business, based in Llay, Wrexham. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day to day running of asphalt sites and crew.

The key responsibilities of the role are as follows:

  • Carry out pre-start inspections of sites in order to identify any hazards or additional works required
  • Carry out post-completion inspections of sites in order to identify any remedial works
  • Develop site specific risk assessments & compile job packs to be issued to site foremen.
  • Deliver site inductions, tool box talks etc. as required
  • Provide support in relation to the organisation of plant / labour on site
  • Daily ordering of asphalt / maintaining stock levels in yard
  • Daily communication with subcontractors such as organisation of traffic management arrangements
  • Daily communication with clients regarding agreement of contract variations / site instructions.
  • Record keeping of site information such as tonnage laid, waste removed from site etc.
  • Support site foremen in ensuring compliance to procedures set out within management systems (Quality, Environmental & Health & Safety)

It is essential that you have the ability to independently manage asphalt surfacing crews and associated sub-contractors at all times, in a professional and courteous manner. You will have a full understanding of profit and loss accounts and full working knowledge of British standards to ensure compliance to clients and contractual specifications. It would be advantageous if you possess advanced knowledge of asphalt products.
