We work as part of a Framework delivering reactive repair and maintenance services across the regions in the South West, whether it be responding to fix a water leak or replacing a main on planned works, we will be there ensuring we complete the works in a safe and timely way.
About the role
We have an opportunity for a Surveyor to work primarily on New Connections as part of the Planned Works Delivery Team within the Network Service Alliance, specifically on clean water related projects. We currently have one vacancy at each of our operational depots at Redruth, Bodmin, Plymouth, Paignton, Exeter & Barnstaple.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking potable water main New Connection Surveys, including establishing traffic management requirements to undertake the works
- Undertake 'Trench Inspections' for new potable water pipe installations
- Undertake Pre-Connection inspections on potable water pipes prior to making live
- Ensure compliance of the works in relation to water regulation & new installations for potable water mains & service
- Complete required inspection forms via hand held electronic device (tablet)
- Complete required feedback to both Kier & SWW IT Systems
- Undertake customer liaison in relation to all survey & inspection works
- Liaise with the client & stakeholders
- Provide support to Metering, Developer Services and the rest of the NSA contract as required
This role will require you to work as part of a 5-day shift pattern (including a Saturday or Sunday on a rota-basis) as well as the need to undertake standby duties. Weekend working as part of the shift is compensated with a weekday off, providing flexibility and opportunity for improved work life balance for many.
What do we need from you?
To be successful in this role you will have previous experience within a similar position, ideally within the water sector, you will hold an EUSR Water Hygiene Card, Streetworks Operative card and have a strong knowledge of the potable water network and connections.
Due to the nature of the role a Full Driving Licence is essential.
