Are you an Employment Tax professional who wants to work with an organisation employing over 10,000 people? Do you have the desire to continue to work in Industry or move from a Tax practice? Then Laing O'Rourke has the ideal opportunity for you. Can you utilise your employment tax knowledge across areas like Benefits through to Finance? Maybe you are just looking for that step into a larger organisation with greater responsibility?

As a leader in tax management, you will be responsible for leading employment tax and Agendas. Can you see yourself working with a variety of specialist business units, office functions, and operational staff? Can you build an internal and external network and develop those relationships? Then we want to hear from you.

We are looking for someone who can provide clear, timely and business-focused advice across all aspects of UK employment tax and Social Security relating to company policy guidance. Reporting directly to the Group Head of Tax you will take on the following responsibilities and duties;

  • Responsible for delivering and overseeing the UK employment tax compliance cycle - the timely delivery of P11Ds and PSA returns, including full analysis of expense data and preparation of returns
  • Manage the Group's robust IR35 processes and controls, providing advice and support to projects and key internal stakeholders
  • Deliver the annual compliance for Short Term Business Visitor reporting to HMRC
  • Review and develop strong processes to support the annual SAO certification
  • Audit allowance applications and expenses to ensure treatment is fully compliant with the temporary / permanent workplace rules
  • Manage any ad-hoc overseas tax and Social Security matters, liaising with executives, professional advisors and the wider Group to deliver tax compliant solutions with minimal disruption
  • Lead the Employment Tax planning, compliance and reporting considering the future strategy of the business, group policy and local regulations.
  • Develop our thinking on employment tax in response to annual staff surveys and budgetary changes
  • Examine existing employment tax processes and develop automation solutions to reduce compliance processing and costs.
  • Anticipate and assess industry developments and legislation changes and recommend efficient employment tax processes and best practice solutions
  • Be a point of contact for any Construction Industry Scheme ("CIS") enquiries, including those originating from Joint Ventures ("JVs")
  • Create e-learning employment tax packages and deliver training across Finance and the wider business, to include project visits

What skills and experience would help you succeed in the role?

A CTA qualification is desirable but not essential. Exposure to managing employment tax matters and associated risks in a medium to large business or practice will enable a smooth transition into Laing O'Rourke. Are you technically up to date and aware of employment tax legislation changes? Can you communicate effectively with a large, diverse stakeholder group? Then we need you to support our range of internal and external stakeholders as the Employment Tax Manager for Laing O'Rourke.

The role has flexibility around the location and offers a hybrid working model. However, time will need to be spent in the Dartford head office, located next to the crossing.

Don't match all the criteria? We are open and always happy to hear from people with transferable skill sets and a commitment to learning.
