Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate to join this team will be responsible for overall management of seven direct staff and sub-contract labour, duties to include, overseeing the building of scheme packs, management of programme delivery ensuring timescales are met. As well as experience in health and safety of on-site teams for routine, minor works and capital schemes. You will need to ensure works are delivered safely, on budget and to delivery target dates.

Daily updating of the routine and capital works programmes is key and you will need to demonstrate this confidently. You will need to be available if required, for winter service and emergencies which fall outside of normal hours. Being able to deal with bridge emergencies and be a pivotal member of the team for any queries will form part of this role, you will provide daily updates of the routine and capital works programmes. You must feel comfortable ordering specialist plant equipment and materials, it is fundamental to be able to demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills as you will need to attend weekly/monthly bridge meetings with the bridge client, along with programming training for the wider bridges teams.

What are we looking for?

  • A certificate in Site Safety Management (attended 5-day course - SMSTS / SSSTS) - Can be trained
  • Experience in construction (Bridges & Structures)
  • Awareness in highways maintenance at a supervisory level
  • Understanding of CAD drawings
  • A valid UK driving licence
  • NRSWA Supervisor card - Can be trained
  • Familiar with Fleet Management
  • Knowledge of O Licence compliance
  • Winter maintenance service experience
  • Recognise what is required when working with listed building constraints on listed structures and scheduled ancient monuments
  • Ability to work with constraints and restrictions from the EA and adhering to temporary land drainage consents
  • Microsoft Excel/PC literate
