Job Role
You will as the Team Leader for Major Developments be responsible for managing a team of professional planning officers managing major development proposals to ensure growth in the local area.
You will ensure ambitions of growth are effectively monitored, managed, delivered and reported to maintain an appropriate supply of land.
You will work under the direction of the head of Planning and Regeneration ensuring planning officers bring successful growth projects in managed environments including planning application are delivered to the highest standard
You will help manage all types of planning applications, but with specific responsibility for major, complex and potentially controversial proposals.
You will will liaise and assist the planning enforcement team in the conduct of investigations and preparations of cases for enforcement action.
You will be required to prepare planning appeal evidence and appear as an expert witness at all types of planning appeals, public examinations, public enquiries and court hearings as required.
Person
You will have a Degree or further degree in Town and Country Planning or related subjects.
You must be a member of RTPI
You must also have a Leadership qualification such as ILM level 5 or a recognised management qualification.
You will also ideally have a project management qualification
You will substantial post qualification experience of development management dealing with complex planning applications and appeals.
You will have experience of public Inquiries and committee presentation.
You will have an ability to analyse complex planning issues and have a clear understanding of current law and guidance relating to development management
You will have effective negotiation skills and be able to lead and motivate staff.
You will have good oral, presentation and written communications skills.
