Our Essex Division, located in Chelmsford is looking to recruit a Technical Assistant Engineering Co-ordinator to join the Division’s Technical team. The Role The Technical team are involved in all aspects of housing design and innovation. In terms of design, there are a variety of sites, all of which come with their unique challenges to solve. Our drive for sustainability, value and ever-changing building and environmental legislation means that innovative and unique solutions are required. Most of the employees employed within these teams have either an architectural or engineering background, and this role will offer the opportunity to gain expertise in design and project management. The engineering team provide support to the wider technical team and other departments within the business. The engineers are responsible for managing all engineering related matters from site acquisition, planning, design and construction, ensuring timely adoption of completed infrastructure and managing the divisional bonds. Training will be provided to an engineer who is keen to learn and expand on existing knowledge. The role primarily focuses on managing external civil engineering consultants to ensure designs are compliant with local authority requirements. The candidate will be responsible for checking infrastructure design drawings and ensuring these are issued to commercial and construction teams in a timely manner. The candidate would form part of the engineering team and would initially be expected to shadow and assist the senior engineer in all day to day duties to learn as much as possible. Problem solving is key to the role as well as being able to overcome a wide range of engineering issues whilst securing bellways interest. Principle accountabilities of the role include: Support senior engineer in completing technical due diligence on potential new land and assist with coordination of feasibility engineering designs. Procure budget quotations from utility companies for new site services and diversions of existing utility assets affected by development. Process online forms and applications to facilitate approval of highway and drainage matters. Ensure the timely distribution of all relevant drawings and technical information. Liaise with Local Authorities and Water Authorities in relation to all S38, S278, S104 and S106 agreements and ensuring that all agreements are in place prior to the site start and completed through to adoption in a timely manner. Coordinate external consultants for the production of engineering drawings to achieve technical approvals from the local authorities. Work in conjunction with our external legal teams to ensure all legal agreements including section agreements and deed of easements are completed in a timely manner Attend and actively participate in design team meetings to ensure deadlines are met. Provide on-going technical support and guidance to other internal departments and colleagues. Prepare Health and safety files for infrastructure. Attend site during construction and liaise closely with Construction department to ensure sites are placed on maintenance in a timely manner and adoptions take place, thereby avoiding over runs on bonds. Ensure remediation works on site are cost effective and programmed to take place in a timely manner. Manage and update the engineering teams schedules and tracker documents. Experience, Qualifications and Skills Experience Experience of working as a Development Engineer within construction/housebuilding. Sound working knowledge of all CAD and other software civil engineering packages Understanding of CDM Regulations, LABC/NHBC requirements and Codes of Practice Knowledge of specific design and specification features with regards to road and sewer agreements and maximise value to the Company. Qualifications and Training HNC/HND in a building related topic CSCS card or equivalent Skills and Aptitude Excellent attention to detail Methodical, conscientious, organised and works to deliver high standards. Strong communication, listening and presentation skills with the ability to be able to build effective working relationships both internally and externally Ability to work on own as well as part of a team Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment Demonstrates the ability to problem solve and delegate effectively IT literate and the ability to adapt to new systems within the technical environment.
