Technical Design Manager Job in London

Technical Design Manager / Project Manager role for a growing multidisciplinary consultancy based in London, working on remedial cladding and facade schemes in London and Home Counties. The role offers a competitive salary of up to £70k + bonus + travel, with flexibility to work remotely. To be considered for the Technical Design Manager role, you must have excellent knowledge of cladding / façade / external wall systems from inception to completion.

The consultancy offers a multitude of services to include project management, surveying, cost consultancy and design management and specialise in residential, affordable housing, major regeneration and remedial projects for developers, RPs, and Local Authorities. Made up of around 100 employees and 5 offices, they are continuing to grow with a strong pipeline of work across London and the Southeast.

Role & Responsibilities

- Liaise closely with Clients, Contractors, Developers

- Report on a regular basis on status of projects and update Fee

Projections

- Undertake reviews of changes in legislation / regulations

- Deal with all pre-contract investigations, surveys and other due diligence issues required by Clients, including sustainability issues

- Production of the Project Execution Plan

- Chair and minute pre-contract meetings

- Resident Liaison

- Undertake all client funding and development control requirements

- Prepare detailed specification of works, Performance Specification and building regulations and drawings

- Amend contracts, prepare Build Agreements and JCT contracts

- Tendering (single and 2-stage) including Procurement Analysis & Reporting

- Prepare and issue Contract Documents, ensure the appropriate stage invoices are issued

- Use of NBS for specification writing

Required Skills & Experience

- Technical Design Manager experience

- Cladding / façade / external wall system knowledge and experience

- Pre-contract to completion

- Excellent understanding of building regulations especially in relation to external wall systems

- Understanding of planning processes and submissions

- Commercial/value engineering understanding

- Knowledge of CDM regulations

- Proficient in BIM

- Proficient in Microsoft Office

- Proficient in Viewpoint

- Preferably MRICS / MCIOB or RIBA or equivalent or working towards any of these accreditations

- Relevant construction related Degree
