Breedon are currently seeking a Technical Manager based across our Yorkshire & North West area.

Your prime responsibilities will be to lead, motivate and develop a team of Technical colleagues to ensure that the area has effective control of material costs and quality of our ready mixed concrete and aggregates production.

This will mean ensuring that concrete and aggregates are sampled and tested as required and that the results of the tests are analysed and acted upon in a timely manner. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the team provides our sales colleagues with both the system and product support that they need to enable them to sell effective product solutions to customers along with honest and professional after sales service. There will be a strong focus on team development and maximising profitability for the area team.

The key responsibilities of the role are as follows:

  • Direct report to the General Manager
  • Responsible for all Health and Safety matters for the team, including managing the Assure Health and Safety System
  • Responsible for RMX and sand and gravel operations
  • High level of focus on mix optimisation and performance products
  • Engage with management teams, attending meetings, providing both challenges and support
  • Ensure that the team complies with spec vetting responsibilities and commercial support
  • Responsible for complex specification vetting
  • Responsible for the investigation of complaints, establish any root cause and closure
  • Manage the data within Excalibur for the region
  • Assist in technical training for the area
  • Manage staff to ensure full compliance with standards
  • Assist and drive concrete performance product development.
  • Identify opportunities with new materials and products, working with the Technical Product Manager to bring these to market
  • Manage FPC requirements for Q.A and standards compliance
  • Quality Audit programmes and resultant actions
  • Represent Breedon on committees where required

A proven track record of leading a team is essential for this role along with the ability to build strong relations with your colleagues from our operations and commercial teams. The abilities to analyse, understand and explain data are also important. It would be advantageous if you have experience of materials testing within the construction materials industry and a strong knowledge base for concrete and aggregates products.
