Kier Strategic Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Technician - Pavements to join our Area 9 contract.


This role is within our Pavements Team that collects all the pavement data from many sources and analyses it to develop a 5-year rolling programme of pavement schemes that takes account of condition and remaining asset life.


Kier Highways design roads, bridges and intelligent transport systems (ITS), covering strategic and nationally important roads, as well as local roads serving local communities.

Our projects range from major improvements to complete renewals of roads and structures. With specialist teams, we manage complex works from conception through to handover at the end of maintenance periods.


Your responsibilities:

  • Plan and arrange traffic management required to enable access to the carriageway to carry out investigations/testing;
  • Liaise with suppliers / contractors to plan and co-ordinate works required;
  • Prepare task orders and check claims for payment from our contractors;
  • Attend meetings with Highways England and our teams to take notes and understand testing requirements;
  • Ensure documentation/forms to be completed are accurate and good records kept of works undertaken.
  • Perform other duties as required by team leader;


  • What are we looking for?:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as this role requires significant liaison with other teams and suppliers;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word;
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload with minimal supervision;
  • Previous experience in a Planning/Co-ordinating role or similar;
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE's (grades A-C) (Desirable that it includes Maths and English)
