Kier Strategic Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Technology Portfolio Manager to join our Area 3 contract.

Kier Highways design roads, bridges and intelligent transport systems (ITS), covering strategic and nationally important roads, as well as local roads serving local communities.

Our projects range from major improvements to complete renewals of roads and structures. With specialist teams, we manage complex works from conception through to handover at the end of maintenance periods.

Your responsibilities:
  • Manage the technology, electrical and environmental design and inspection teams to ensure successful delivery of instructed tasks and completion of projects and routine activities to programme and budget
  • Ensure appropriate project control on a monthly basis, including management of financial information for both internal and external reporting
  • Plan and manage resource levels to achieve annual outputs, including appropriate staff recruitment and retention, both permanent and temporary
  • Management of the quality and relationship with any external design and consultancy resources employed to support programme delivery
  • Manage the performance, training and development of direct reports. Provide direction, training and motivation necessary to secure the optimum commitment and competence of direct reports and their teams
  • Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System.
    • What are we looking for?:
  • Degree or equivalent level qualification in an engineering discipline and experience of the application of highway and/or technology related design standards
  • A professional member of the IHT, ICE or equivalent, ideally Chartered or Incorporated
  • A strong, broad knowledge of Technology Asset Management and Design Standards relevant to the strategic road network.
  • Creates a culture of development and coaching, mentoring and collaboration with colleagues.
