Our client is looking for a Tekla Draughtsperson to be based in Dorset. This group company has various divisions and this role would be based in the Engineering Division. As a member of their expanding Design team. You will be working for a large Construction Engineering Company specialising in structural steelwork, who aim to deliver excellence across a variety of different sectors and markets with a steadfast focus on safety and quality. Our client works an expansive portfolio of large commercial structural steel projects from airports, commercial new builds and refurbishments, infrastructure, energy and waste. Throughout their product knowledge and experience they have demonstrated a commitment to the continuous improvement of safety and quality in all of their projects.

As Tekla Draughtsperson you will:

  • be responsible for production drawings and engineering requisitions
  • produce safe designs which are fully compliant with specifications of the project and the national standards and regulations
  • deliver the designs within budget and on programme
  • enhance the company's reputation for technical excellence
What do you need for the role?
  • Have and maintain the appropriate skill level in the operation of your CAD system(s) (Tekla Structures, Revit, AutoCAD etc.)
  • Liaise with the structural design team as necessary to resolve connection design queries
  • Deliver production information (drawings/reports) to set target delivery dates
  • Programme and phase your project workload
  • Accurately report on project status and progress as necessary
  • Liaise with the project design team regularly (engineers, architect's etc) to resolve any technical queries
  • Produce and check structural interface details (decking, cladding, stairs etc)
  • Operate & Maintain established business systems
  • Operate & Maintain company change control system
  • Carry out the appropriate levels of CAD checking on each project in line with BCEL 900 Procedures
  • Have a sufficient knowledge of national standards and regulations necessary to carry out your role (BS 5950, NSSS, Eurocode)
  • Implement & maintain the company ISO 9001 quality procedures in relation to these activities
  • Assist with the training of other in-house engineers, technicians & trainees
  • visit site as requested and communicate effective site reports to the management
