Our client are setting up a new factory to produce modular homes from 1 to 12 storeys. The factory based in Basildon, Essex and will have the capacity to produce 400 homes a year.
Taking on the responsibility for the building system structural design, including CLT design and advising regards engineering and performance (fire, moisture, acoustics) criteria, efficient material transportation (nesting), delivery, craneage and buildability, they are looking for a Timber Engineer to join their team.

Role:
:: Be the leading resource for all structural and timber related issues
:: Along with external consultants take lead responsibility for the building system structural design
:: Attend relevant design team meetings as required to facilitate the development of the design, and liaise with relevant subcontractors
:: Supervise the work of the allocated CAD Technicians, and other design resource, to ensure information is produced accurately and efficiently in line with the overall design programme
:: Coordinate the creation and issue of design information packages for release internally and externally as required
:: Ensure all project design activity is carried out in line with the requirements
Requirements:
:: Structural engineering to degree level or HND/HNC level - chartered would be advantageous
:: Building structural design using CLT
:: Building structural design using, steel, concrete, brick and timber
:: Have a working knowledge of Building Regulations and other market sector specific regulatory and statutory requirements
:: Be aware of standard industry drawing practices, and be able to develop and present design information in a legible and comprehensive manner
:: Be competent in the use of appropriate CAD software: Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit 2018, Navisworks and/or other 3D modelling software
:: Have experience working within a design role in a construction business
:: Be capable of supervising junior members of the design team, including the allocation and monitoring of project design workload and programme reporting.
