There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our Kent Division is looking to recruit a Trainee Assistant Accountant to join the Division’s Finance team. The successful applicant will be enrolled on the Accounting and Taxation Professional Apprenticeship (Level 7) to gain an ACCA and CIMA qualification. The Role The role of the Trainee Assistant Accountant will report to the Divisional Management Accountant and Finance Director. The role involves assisting in the production of accurate and timely financial transactions and reports in addition to maintaining the business’s accounting records. The business is currently undergoing a planned migration to new finance and valuation software, COINS. Principle accountabilities of the Trainee Assistant Accountant role include: Posting cashbook entries Reconciling sales receipts Managing the sales ledger Posting sales invoices Production of weekly bank reconciliations Weekly cash movement reports Weekly cash forecast reports Raising divisional invoices Maintenance of all banking & sales records. Monthly reconciliations and journals for intercompany accounts, clearing accounts, recharges etc. Updating balance sheet accounts/reconciliations (other debtors/creditors, HTB debtors) Calculating ground rent arrears (usually when selling freeholds) Monthly statistical returns CIS returns cover Job cost journals Assist the management accountant in preparing monthly journals and account analysis, financial year end and audit work. Organize divisional archiving Assist with purchase ledger processing when required Provide cover for various duties within the department. Troubleshooting transactions and suggesting corrections. Performing cost analysis Completing various returns and requests for information, as required. Experience, Qualifications and Skills Experience Experience of working with accountancy software. Working knowledge of COINS is desirable Experience of working within a similar role is preferred Qualifications and Training GCSE Maths and English – Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) AAT Level 4 Qualified or Finance Graduate Skills and Aptitude Good interpersonal skills.
