An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a growing, family run, construction estimating company, in the position of trainee/assistant estimator, operating out of countryside offices based in Hinxworth, Baldock. With a client base including some of the UK’s top 100 construction companies, we work on projects across all sectors in the industry, ranging in value from £500,000 up to £70m.
The role will include: • Assisting estimators with measuring and taking off drawing packages • Reviewing tender documents and setting up projects on our system • Create subcontractor enquiry packages and material lists • Liaising with third parties to obtain tender quotations • Assist in analysing and comparing subcontractor quotations As a trainee/assistant estimator, you will receive constant on the job training, plus opportunities of further education, which in turn will lead to development reviews linking to salary progression. The Candidate: Working within a small team, the successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, with a passion to learn, and a willingness to contribute to a growing company. Key skills required: • Confident numeracy skills • Adept IT skills and experience of using Excel • Able to work cooperatively in a team • Excellent time management skills • Determined to learn and progress in the construction industry The ideal candidate will live within a reasonable commute to our offices in Hinxworth, Hertfordshire. Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm Monday to Friday Holidays: 20 days per annum plus bank holidays
