Trainee Brickwork Lecturer

Do you have experience in Brickwork? Protocol are working with a London based college and are currently looking for a Trainee Brickwork Lecturer to fill this very position. If you feel as though this could be the job for you - Please read on!

Role Specifics
This project is aimed at technically skilled and experienced professionals who have already had a career in industry, and may be considering a move into a new career that still allows them to maximise their skills and experience acquired and retain their links with industry. It will further develop relationships with employers and ensure there is a reciprocal pipeline of talent between industry and the college. The college is finding it difficult to recruit specialist teachers within Construction and Engineering, who are suitably experienced in industry, with appropriate vocational competence to teach the higher level technical skills required to fill the skills gaps both within the region and nationally, particularly levels 3,4 and 5. This project aims to recruit experienced practitioners who may be considering a change in career and provides an opportunity to embark on a phased career change that would enable them to use their previous skills, knowledge and experience from industry and equip a new generation workforce.

In addition to the technical knowledge and competence, these practitioners will have the advantage of being able to support with the 'softer' employability skills and expected behaviours employers require, as well as embedding company values and other commercial or mandatory training required by employers. They will be able to embed these expectations within the vocational teachers and help prepare learners for employment, fully equipped with both the technical and employability skills and behaviours required to be successful in their chosen careers. By working directly with their current employers (and often tier 2 and 3 subcontracting employers), these specialist teachers can provide a direct link to industry with greater opportunities for master classes, visits and internships than may otherwise be accessible. With a mentor, shadowing, team teaching and full teacher training.

The aims to maximise the experience of specialists who wish to embark on a change of career but retain the links to industry and leverage the skills and experience they have gained within their existing career.

The person & qualifications
Must have no relevant teaching qualifications
Must have at least 18 months industry experience
Must not be related to anyone working at the college or have worked at the college previous themselves
Able to start as soon as possible
