You will pro-actively lead a team to manage the development, planning and execution of traffic solutions for the construction of the teams sections of HS2 Phase One (London to Birmingham), meeting or exceeding the agreed objectives of both us and HS2. You will be responsible for the delivery of traffic works using a collaborative approach with the other Main Works Civils Contractors, stakeholders and the client in order to deliver the best value, as detailed in the HS2 Works Information.

As part of HS2s commitment to upskilling traffic managers, you will either hold or work towards an appropriate nationally recognised standard produced by The National College for High Speed Rail, the Institution of Civil Engineers or other relevant professional body.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead on all matters relating to traffic management and any interface with the public highway, including: Route management, identifying and managing all permissible routes on the public highway that we traffic can use, Route improvement, identifying and planning all necessary improvements or temporary works to the public highway to support us or HS2 works, Site access, planning safe access and egress to the works from the public highway at all of our construction site access points, including traffic management and works to the public highway, Submissions, drafting and submission of all plans and documents to the Client and local authorities in accordance with the Works Information at the required timescales, Crossings, managing all our crossings of the public highway with a view to maintaining safe and free public movement whilst we works continue without hindrance
  • Develop integrated traffic management plans and submissions in accordance with the Works Information and all other information provided by the Client and other stakeholders, in particular the relevant highways authorities
  • Develop effective traffic management solutions to provide safe, robust and resilient support to our construction activities
  • Develop the most efficient and commercially effective solutions for our traffic management to meet the requirement
  • Lead and manage our traffic management team and subcontractors
  • Collaborate with HS2, other Lot Contractors and other stakeholders to develop the most efficient, effective and sympathetic traffic management solutions to support the whole scheme
  • Provide the conduit for all traffic management related data, using smartTOOLS to manage traffic monitoring and analysis, providing innovative insight and solutions
  • Listen to communities and use all available data to assess the suitability of traffic management arrangements, making improvements developing innovative and sustainable solutions to maximise delivery outputs whilst minimising impacts on those communities
  • Manage all traffic works and management activity, monitoring performance and identifying improvements
  • Produce report information for the traffic parts of the progress report and attend the progress meeting to ensure that all traffic management strategies, plans and submissions remain suitable, adequate and effective.
  • Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Hold a current certificate of professional competence (CPC) gained by examination
  • Holder of a Full EU Driving Licence
  • Experience of compliant requirements of plant
  • Hands on practical experience of all transport activities with working knowledge of current transport legislation
  • Detailed knowledge of DVSA regulatory requirements regarding O Licences and Fleet management activities in general
  • Good ability in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent communicator
  • Reliable, conscientious and co-operative
  • Ability to lead a team, work on own initiative and deliver key objectives
