Breedon are currently seeking a Transport Supervisor based at Hope Cement Works in Derbyshire.
The role will provide first line reporting for all cement tanker drivers and the key responsibilities are as follows:
- Schedule our own fleet of vehicles and drivers in a safe and efficient manner
- To be first point of contact for our drivers.
- Work closely with the preferred sub-contractor team to ensure optimum use of the combined fleet.
- Ensure drivers have correct PPE, equipment, and information to undertake their duties.
- Manage drivers' hours in accordance with the requirements of the EU Drivers Hours and Road Transport Directive.
- Plan and manage drivers' holidays to minimise the impact to our own fleet productivity and organise cover for those drivers to maximise vehicle utilisation.
- Receive driver infringement reports from the Transport Compliance Manager and to ensure drivers are made aware of those infringements, managing them in a manner which prevents repetition of those infringements.
- Conduct incident investigations
- Communicate in a timely and effective manner with other members of the Logistics Team to minimise the effect of scheduling problems
- Plan vehicle and trailer maintenance in accordance with Operators Licence requirements and to maintain records accordingly
- Ensure Tank Pressure Tests are carried out when due
- Ensure 6 monthly checks are carried out on discharge hoses and clips.
- Maintain regular contact with drivers who are off work and conduct Return to Work interviews following any period of sickness.
- Ad-hoc transport office duties.
The successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to build positive working relations with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
- An understanding of compliance within the transport industry.
- The ability to working under pressure within a busy transport office.
- Experience in an operational role in a logistics or haulage business.
- Must be IT literate (Including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel).
