Planer Limited has, for 50 years, been a market leading manufacturer of specialised life science equipment. We design and develop sophisticated microprocessor-controlled cryopreservation and incubation equipment for use in research and medical laboratories.
In order to continue delivering this important, life changing work, and as a result of continued growth across the group, an experienced sales professional with a naturally consultative approach is required to join the team.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working within a high paced consumables business and with a good understanding of capital equipment sales processes, ideally within the medical devices industry. As part of this wide-ranging role, the successful individual will manage the delivery of all aspects of the sales function within their particular portfolio and as such, the ability to develop relationships and plans with customers whilst maximising the effectiveness of these customers and achieving the required sales results is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve growth and hit sales targets by successfully managing the sales team.
- Design and implement a strategic business plan that expands company's customer base and ensure its strong presence.
- Present sales, revenue and expenses reports and realistic forecasts to the management team.
- Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status.
- Gain a comprehensive knowledge of product range and services of the UK assisted reproductive therapies markets.
- Gain a working knowledge of the procedures where Planer equipment can be used to be able to assist clinicians and provide product training to users.
- Identify, contract and support UK customers and clinics, building good relationships and being their first point of contact.
- Liaise regularly with the Head of Sales, both verbally and through written reports.
- To give training/support services to all staff within allocated customer sites related to a particular product usage and good clinical practice.
- To participate in requests for clinical evaluations, if required.
- To maintain a detailed customer relationship management database to ensure an optimum customer information is always available.
- Responsible for the administration and CRM management relevant to the sale.
Skills & Experience
- Excellent negotiation skills, always has a bottom-line target and aims to achieve a win-win situation.
- Experienced in a sales role, minimum of four years with excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Excellent organisational skills and able to manage time effectively.
- Education - Degree or equivalent
- Proactive team player.
- Excellent relationship building skills.
- Shows drive and determination for all tasks.
- Willingness to travel regularly throughout the UK with some overseas travel.
- Experience of working within the UK ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) Market - desirable.
- Ability to gain a comprehensive knowledge of our broad product range.
- IT skills are to include a high level of all aspects of Microsoft office with Netsuite skills or a similar CRM system desirable.
- Proven experience of both consumable and capital equipment sales - desirable
