We are recruiting for an amazing opportunity for a committed and dedicated Buried services Data Manager for one of the most exciting infrastructure projects in the UK. Hinkley Point C will be the first nuclear energy plant built in the UK for over 30 years and you could be part of the team which deliver this innovative energy project. The project is being managed by two top tier contractors who are working in partnership, so this is a prime opportunity for you to work with two established international companies, who span multiple sectors including rail, power, water, building and natural resources. Not only are they working on this prestigious project, but also have a number of projects throughout the UK, which will also give you scope for progression.
The Brief:
All excavation work in the vicinity of buried services is considered a high risk activity. During pre-construction planning of the works, the agent identifies all activities which may involve work in the vicinity of buried services and decides, by risk assessment, a safe system of work. This is described in the project management plan. He will appoint a Buried Services Data Manager to handle the following works.
As the Buried Services Data manager your responsibilities will be the following:
- Liaise with the service providers and statutory undertakings
- Obtain and maintain records of the services within and in the vicinity of the site
- Ensure surveys are undertaken where appropriate
- Collate, file and register all surveys and other spatial data obtained on services
- Update and maintain current drawings and other records of all services location data
- Conduct a search on onlinesearch.org
- Maintain records of permits issued and closed
- Monitor compliance and report findings to the Agent and Health & Safety Department
- Liaise with the Health & Safety department for assistance and guidance
- Ensure users of location g equipment are trained and competent
Assist the buried and overhead services co-ordinators to ensure the following occurs:
- Decide on appropriate control measures for safe digging and access around services.
- Issue permit-to-dig; all works which include breaking or penetrating ground will require a permit to dig.
- Confirm that workers are fully briefed on the permit, dangers and precautions to be taken.
The principal contractor and client have a responsibility to provide and co-ordinate available and correct information about the site service and their location, in particular about those that are concealed.
