Your Role in Focus

Be part of our client's team as a Underwriting Team Lead, where you will guide and mentor a team handling inbound consumer calls, document verification, and underwriting reviews. You will ensure compliance, drive team performance, optimize workflows, and collaborate cross-functionally to maintain accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional service..

    Required:

  • High school diploma or GED (associate or bachelor's degree preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience in consumer underwriting, risk management, or financial services
  • 1+ years of leadership experience (team lead, supervisor, or trainer role)
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, especially in customer-facing contexts
  • Proficient in using underwriting systems, CRMs, and workflow management tools
  • Ability to coach, motivate, and lead a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Preferred:

  • Prior experience in a consumer-facing underwriting or verification contact center
  • Familiarity with credit, document verification, or fraud detection systems
  • Knowledge of compliance and data privacy standards (e.g., FCRA, GLBA)

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of consumer underwriters handling inbound consumer calls, document verification, and underwriting reviews
  • Monitor team performance and productivity through regular coaching, performance evaluations, and quality audits
  • Serve as the primary point of escalation for complex or sensitive consumer interactions and underwriting cases
  • Ensure all underwriting decisions and communications comply with internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee workflow management, including queue monitoring, prioritization, and workload balancing to meet SLAs
  • Partner with management to implement training programs, process improvements, and performance metrics
  • Analyze team and operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as Risk, Compliance, Quality Assurance, and Product to address issues or enhance workflows
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and continued skill development of team members
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of underwriting guidelines, risk practices, and industry developments
