Urban Designer Job in Romsey, Hampshire

An Urban Designer job is now available. My client is seeking an established Urban Designer to work on residential development projects in its office in Hampshire.

Founded over 40 years ago and currently employing over 60 staff, my client has found great commercial success in large-scale residential and retirement projects. They currently employ an award-winning team of architects, urban designers, technologists, graphic designers and sustainability consultants, and their awards include "Housing Design Award" and "Design Quality Award". Due to continued success, they are seeking a Urban designer to join the team in Romsey.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Work on projects from the initial concept to delivery
  • Contribute to the design process through creative thinking and concept development
  • Working on planning applications of housing led developments
  • Working on masterplan drawing design strategies and to detailed illustrations to support design principles
  • Support the production of comprehensive design and access statements
  • Day to day running of jobs including liaising with colleagues and managing junior members of teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • A qualification in Urban Design
  • A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience
  • Experience of working on UK residential projects is essential
  • Ability to conduct site, context and character appraisals and analysis to inform the design team
  • Production of masterplan drawings, design strategies and illustrations to support design principles
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to see the bigger picture
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD and Sketchup
  • Ability to work in a team or independently when required.
