Position Summary:

The Vice President (VP) of Construction - Mission Critical Data Centers is responsible for the strategic oversight, planning, and execution of all data center construction projects across the region. This executive will lead a multidisciplinary team and manage external stakeholders (GCs, EPCs, subcontractors, engineering firms, and vendors) to ensure the delivery of technically complex, high-value, mission-critical facilities on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role requires deep experience in mission-critical infrastructure, a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, and a proven ability to scale construction programs across multiple geographies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy
    • Provide executive leadership for all aspects of construction execution across hyperscale, colocation, and edge data center projects.
    • Develop and implement scalable construction strategies that align with corporate growth objectives and sustainability targets.
    • Serve as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to overall business planning and operational strategy.
  • Project Oversight
    • Oversee the full lifecycle of data center construction projects-from site due diligence and budgeting through commissioning and turnover.
    • Ensure adherence to scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety across all active projects.
    • Monitor KPIs and proactively resolve bottlenecks or risks.
  • Team & Vendor Management
    • Lead a high-performing team of construction managers, project executives, and field personnel.
    • Build and maintain relationships with GCs, EPCs, subcontractors, equipment suppliers, and design consultants.
    • Negotiate key construction and service contracts and ensure accountability across all third-party stakeholders.
  • Technical & Operational Excellence
    • Ensure robust QA/QC, safety, and commissioning practices are in place and enforced.
    • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in construction techniques, delivery models (e.g., modular, prefabrication), and technology platforms (e.g., BIM, Procore).
    • Partner with engineering, operations, and design teams to ensure seamless project handover and performance.
  • Budgeting & Reporting
    • Own the construction capital budget and ensure accurate forecasting and financial reporting.
    • Report progress and risk to executive leadership, board members, and investors as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of construction management experience, with at least 10 years in mission-critical or data center construction.
  • Proven experience delivering multiple large-scale, complex data center projects across different regions or countries.
  • Deep knowledge of mission-critical MEP systems, high-reliability design, and Tier III/IV standards.
  • Strong leadership, team development, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with construction technologies and tools (e.g., BIM, Procore, Primavera, AutoCAD).
  • Exceptional organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel frequently to project sites as required.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with hyperscale or colocation providers (e.g., AWS, Google, Meta, Equinix, Digital Realty).
  • Exposure to international projects and multi-site deployment strategies.
  • LEED, Uptime Institute, or other relevant certifications.
