Rate: £11.91 per hour
Standby & call out rate: £22.50 per day
Hours: Call out dependant - 24/7
It might be the height of summer, but at Kier we're already planning ahead. We're recruiting drivers for our Highways business, to keep the UK moving during the winter months.
About the role
As a winter maintenance operative, you will be a key essential worker, driving gritting vehicles to spread salt onto the roads during colder days and nights, keeping the UK's roads moving.
You will also be responsible for:
- Ensuring accurate records are completed & submitted to your supervisor
- Maintaining relevant driver and vehicle records and ensuring all training certificates are current
- Cleaning down the vehicle after shift
- Fitting a snow plough during adverse weather conditions
No previous experience is required and we welcome new drivers; we'll provide training for winter maintenance driving.
However, you will need:
- Full UK driving licence
- HGV licence & CPC accreditation
New starter training will begin in September 2021.
- Standby cover is based on 24 hours a day, over 7 days
- The rota can be every week or alternate weeks, based on your availability
- The winter contract runs from September to April, with the opportunity to return each year
