The ideal Works Controller will act as the single point of contact for all task orders for maintenance and construction. The Controller will be a key contact for Clients and staff through their gate keeping role providing a quality filter for orders and verbal requests, they will also recommend future improvements. Responsibilities will include passing through planned works to the operational staff.

Provide effective and efficient coordination and control of all works orders received and delivered by the Shropshire H&ETS Contract.

Other duties will include responsibility for the scheduling and delivery of reactive works working closely with SC's Inspectors, Kier's Area Managers, Supervisors and the Permitting Co-ordinators.

You will monitor in real time Kier's response to request for work and be responsible for the delivery and level of service within the contractual requirements.

The successful candidate will need to be available if required for winter service and Emergency OOH's.

What do we need from you to be successful in this role?

  • Working knowledge of programme delivery experience, ideally within Local Authority or Construction/Engineering sector
  • Awareness of Design function
  • Commercially aware with an understanding of delivery times
  • Extensive supervisory or management experience (preferable) including monitoring data and delivering KPI's
  • Working knowledge of Highway Maintenance activities.
  • Competent IT skills - specifically the Confirm system
  • Demonstrable experience in leadership, resource allocation and general management
  • Recognised qualification in highway services delivery
  • People and project management skills
  • Traffic Management experience
  • Knowledge of local authority contracts
  • Winter maintenance service
  • Excel/PC literate
