Introduction:







Kier Local Highways have an exciting opportunity for a Works Engineer to join the Surrey Council Highways Maintenance Contract.



Kier Highways design roads, bridges and intelligent transport systems (ITS), covering strategic and nationally important roads, as well as local roads serving local communities. Our projects range from major improvements to complete renewals of roads and structures. With specialist teams, we manage complex works from conception through to handover at the end of maintenance periods.







Key responsibilities:







  • Engage with the client to advise on buildability, traffic management and other areas of engineering input during ECI stage.
  • Pre-plan and mobilise Highways improvement schemes ready to be handed over to the supervisor for delivery.
  • Review works information (PCI, STATs, drawing and specification) provided by the client to ensure complete and coherent information has been provided by the client for the scheme.
  • Raise requests for road space permits. Monitor and give further information during the process of agreeing road space.
  • Write/assemble the site safety pack.
  • Produce and maintain a programme of individual highways capital work streams.

    Skills and experience:







  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline
  • SMSTS / relevant CSCS card / NRSWA qualification
  • Familiarity with general office IT software
  • Awareness and understanding of the CDM 2015 regs
  • Knowledge and experience of temporary works
