The Role - Mechanical Design Engineer
Due to an increase in business and growth of the business, my client have a need for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their existing team. The successful person will be part of a highly skilled team, responsible for the concept, design, detailing and specification of parts.
The Company
Without this sounding too 'hush hush' my client design and manufacture security systems on a need to know basis. You will be joining a company that has a reputation for delivering superior quality surveillance equipment into law enforcement agencies.
The Right Person
The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will have a strong Mechanical aptitude and thorough interest in the workings of machines, excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a group. You will be a hands on person with an imaginative and resourceful approach to problem solving. You will need to have a thorough understanding of MS Office and be proficient in the use of SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software. An understanding of optical design and production issues is desirable.
Responsibilities
Concept to design, manufacture and assembly
Basic engineering and motor calculations
Proposal engineering drawings, design layouts and documentation
Component details for manufacture, assembly and/or arrangement drawings
Checking of basic and detail engineering for capability and dimensional accuracy
Produce documentation and reports as required by the company's design process
Developing of manufacturing drawings in accordance with BS 8888 and other applicable standards
Interfacing with outside vendors for component selection and manufacture
Read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics and computer generated reports
Confer with electronics and software engineers and other personnel to resolve system malfunctions and provide technical information
To analyse customer design proposals, specifications, manuals and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost and maintenance requirement of designs.
