Role Description

The Resolute Group are working with a national infrastructure contractor who has secured two additional long term framework contracts to assist the expansion of the commercial team with an Estimator.

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for the commercial process from administration to the management of the infrastructure contracts.

Day to day duties will vary but could include:

  • You will be tasked to carry out take-offs, bills of quantities, cost plans and tenders for a range of clients including, sub-contractors, developers and private clients.
  • Responsible for estimating all project lifecycle stages, concept, study and detailed design.
  • Prepare comprehensive bids and tender submissions within the required deadlines.
  • Conduct ongoing market research on current costs of material, rates and trends within the industry and negotiate with sub-contractors and suppliers.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Construction or Engineering degree / certificate or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years estimating experience
  • Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen
  • Civil engineering or infrastructure background (Essential)
  • Full UK driving licence

The Resolute Group are working in partnership with a reputable civil engineering contractor that looks to join their Health, Safety and Environment team as a Health and Safety Advisor.

Location: - Warrington, Northwest

Job type: - Full time, Permanent

Salary: - £40,000 - £45,000 package

In this role, you will look to work for a large contracting company with an excellent reputation and commitment to Health and Safety as groundwork and infrastructure schemes valued between £5m - £20m. As you will be split between office and site locations, it will be your responsibility to ensure standards and procedures are maintained accordingly.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include.

  • Provide support and assistance to senior management and subordinates on SHE issues.
  • Attend pre-commencement meetings as requested to proactively contribute to the initial decisions made by the contract team.
  • Provide assistance / advice to the organisation to enable statutory notices to be applied for when required.
  • Assist the Regional SHE Manager to prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy.
  • Produce RAMS.
  • Planned site visits and audits including reporting and follow up actions.
  • Identify training needs and deliver on site training including toolbox talks.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents.
  • Ensure Company compliance with CDM regulations and other relevant statutes.

Your requirements will include:

  • Relevant Health & Safety qualification (IOSH/ NEBOSH or other relevant qualification).
  • Experience as a Health and Safety Advisor.
  • Ability to work independently as well as contributing to team and company wide strategy.
  • Full clean driving licence.

Role Description

The Resolute Group is working in partnership with a Civil Engineering firm based within the West Yorkshire region assisting a diverse range of works within Civil Engineering valued up to £20 million.

As an Estimator, you will be tasked to carry out take-offs, bills of quantities, cost plans and tenders for a range of clients including, sub-contractors, developers and private clients. In addition, you will assist reviewing residential and commercial projects with new and existing clients.

Day to day duties will vary but could include:

  • Completing tenders on behalf of clients based on architectural, structure engineer, and specialist drawings, plans and specifications.
  • Establishing connections with various individuals across the tendering process including suppliers, subcontractors and specialists to allow collaboration.
  • Perform accurate take-offs for various residential and commercial projects, utilising measuring take-off tools and software for precision.
  • Supporting the estimating and managing director as required.
  • Discussing and establishing potential value engineering regarding projects to aid clients in meeting budgets.

Qualifications / Experience

  • A minimum of 5+ years' experience in civil in the UK, 3 of which as an Estimator with a small/ medium contractor
  • Be HNC/HND or degree qualified
  • Basic IT skills and experience of Conquest estimating software preferred
  • Have a knowledge of standard Conditions of Contract
  • Full UK driving licence

Quantity Surveyors with an electrical bias will enjoy working for this established contractor on the delivery of a hyperscale Data Centre project for a major client. You will have the opportunity to work the project cradle to grave for a global client, allowing you to add a milestone project to the CV.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Validate tender following award of project with the Project Manager/Director.
  • Assist in preparation of project CCS by analysing the tender and project requirements.
  • Prepare cash flow by analysing the timing of billings and costs.
  • Compile monthly reports in accordance with the Group standard procedures.
  • Where applicable, carry out site measures with Construction and Planning Teams in accordance with contractual procedures.
  • Ensure timely submission of claims/notices in accordance with provisions of contract.
  • Ensure that areas of concern are highlighted relating to contract costs, sales, and contribution.
  • Ensure that you attend monthly commercial and subcontractor meetings.
  • Draft pre- and post-contract correspondence in consultation with the Project Manager/Director
  • Identify if material purchases are scope or variation to the budget.
  • Ensure control of client invoicing by submission of invoices and tracking of payment etc.
  • Administer payments to subcontractors and suppliers by reviewing submissions in terms of their contracts.
  • Liaise closely with the Financial Department on project reporting and financials.
  • Resolve disputes in relation to client / subcontractor issues.
  • Prepare reports on commercial and contractual issues for the Project and Commercial Managers.
  • Monitor site procurement on receipt of regular reports.

Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Construction Management or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years¿ experience in Quantity Surveying in the construction industry.
  • Working towards chartership or professional Quantity Surveying Certification is desirable.
  • Solid knowledge of Mechanical Systems.
  • Data Centre experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
