Senior Quantity Surveyor

Excellent opportunity work for an excellent subcontractor specialising within the Highways division on NEC forms of contracts.

Location: - Kent, Southeast

Salary: - £65,000.00 - £80,000 (DOE)

Role Description

The Resolute Group is working in partnership with a subcontractor who has a National Highways division delivering various projects from Frameworks through to major projects. Within this position, you will be managing 2 junior Quantity Surveyors that work with you on a day-to-day basis.

This role is supporting the Quantity Surveyors, supporting them with skill gaps, checking the accounts and ensuring that the work is undertaken correctly. Only becoming hands on when working on the larger £5m or Frameworks that need additional support.

Day to day duties will vary but could include:

  • Managing a small team of Quantity Surveyors delivering live Highway schemes and other minor projects.
  • Oversee the detailed bills of quantities and cost breakdowns.
  • Monitor project costs against your package of works.
  • Support with the management of the sub-contractor costs and payments.
  • Report and Manage variations, claims, and other contractual issues that may arise.
  • Mentor and manage the quantity surveyors, looking at the leadership and training aspects.
  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships both internally and with external sub-contractors.

This role is office based as you need to be around your Quantity Surveyors, therefore it'll be necessary to be in commutable distance to get to the office.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Degree qualified - Ideally in Quantity Surveying
  • Experienced Quantity Surveyor with proven ability in developing more junior members of staff.
  • Full driving licence

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for the commercial process from administration to the management of the infrastructure contracts.

Day to day duties will vary but could include:

  • You will be tasked to carry out take-offs, bills of quantities, cost plans and tenders for a range of clients including, sub-contractors, developers and private clients.
  • Responsible for estimating all project lifecycle stages, concept, study and detailed design.
  • Prepare comprehensive bids and tender submissions within the required deadlines.
  • Conduct ongoing market research on current costs of material, rates and trends within the industry and negotiate with sub-contractors and suppliers.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Construction or Engineering degree / certificate or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years estimating experience
  • Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen
  • Civil engineering or infrastructure background (Essential)
  • Full UK driving licence

The Resolute Group are working in partnership with a reputable civil engineering contractor that looks to join their Health, Safety and Environment team as a Health and Safety Advisor.

Location: - Warrington, Northwest

Job type: - Full time, Permanent

Salary: - £40,000 - £45,000 package

In this role, you will look to work for a large contracting company with an excellent reputation and commitment to Health and Safety as groundwork and infrastructure schemes valued between £5m - £20m. As you will be split between office and site locations, it will be your responsibility to ensure standards and procedures are maintained accordingly.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include.

  • Provide support and assistance to senior management and subordinates on SHE issues.
  • Attend pre-commencement meetings as requested to proactively contribute to the initial decisions made by the contract team.
  • Provide assistance / advice to the organisation to enable statutory notices to be applied for when required.
  • Assist the Regional SHE Manager to prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy.
  • Produce RAMS.
  • Planned site visits and audits including reporting and follow up actions.
  • Identify training needs and deliver on site training including toolbox talks.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents.
  • Ensure Company compliance with CDM regulations and other relevant statutes.

Your requirements will include:

  • Relevant Health & Safety qualification (IOSH/ NEBOSH or other relevant qualification).
  • Experience as a Health and Safety Advisor.
  • Ability to work independently as well as contributing to team and company wide strategy.
  • Full clean driving licence.
