Our client is looking to recruit a Quality Engineer to their expanding team.

Role definition:
Fulfills many roles; from overseeing everyday factory floor activities (quality) in order to train operators, to acting as a liaison between suppliers and customers. Define methods and equipment used to measure a process's key characteristics. Improve the standard of the process, using information collected from the operations and then applying problem-solving techniques. Responsible for training production team in any updated work procedures. Ensure customer complaints regarding product quality is filtered through to production team, assembling team to determine the source of the problem and develop a plan to prevent recurring issue/complaint.

Main Duties:
*Preparation of ISIR/PPAP submissions
*Investigate poor product quality - internal and customer complaints:
*Review customer warranty returns; identify patterns in failures
*Identify possible trends in internal rejects,
*Root cause analysis using problem solving tools to detail findings
*Prepare and assist with preparation of 8D reports
*Investigate & report on internal & external rejects
*Ensure material is rejected correctly both at suppliers and internally
*Action ICA's to contain defect and protect customer - can involve customer visits
*Develop and implement PCA's
*Ensure timely resolution of corrective actions and preventive actions
*Perform capability studies, analyse results and generate recommendations
*Perform measurement system analysis (MSA)
*Liaise with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure introduction of new products are in accordance with approved data.
*Regularly monitor the production and machinery to ensure the quality is maintained using tools available
*Support the quality inspector to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system.
*Review and update company quality documentation including:
*One point lessons
*SOP's
*Process flow diagrams
*Participate in DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans and APQP activities including preparation of documentation
*Perform routine cleanliness checks to ensure agreed standards are being maintained

General Responsibilities:
*Develop effective training plan for both new and existing employees:
*Use of measuring equipment
*Increase awareness and demonstrate benefits of utilising quality tools i.e. SPC, control plans
*Arrange external testing i.e. NDT required by MoD
*First off, random sample inspection
*Identify, obtain quotation and requisition consumables and measuring equipment as required
*Update gauge and instrument issue/calibration records
*Analysis of SPC records with recommendations
*Produce dimensional reports using CMM
*Liaise with customers and suppliers
*Maintain customer portals

(KPIs / subject to periodic review):
PPAP performance (right first time and on-time) - target >98%
8D performance - target zero repeat concerns
PPM - target 50PPM
ICA & PCA effectiveness inc. time to close - target 24hrs for ICA and PCA in-line with customer requirements
Maintenance of Key Task Monitor (KTM)

Qualifications required
BEng - Mechanical Engineering - desirable:
Or
BTEC ONC / HNC - Mechanical Engineering Discipline
Or
Good general education - with relevant quality & technical qualifications with significant relevant quality engineer experience.

Experience required - desirable:
Commercial experience within quality department - ideally 'tier 1' automotive supply chain
