Kier Places are recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our passionate Capital Projects Team. With our diverse portfolio of projects, we are looking for an individual who has a passion for the project at hand, and securing work, whilst also being able to work as part of a closely knit team that has the opportunity to develop and control its own destiny. You will be working on a portfolio of projects predominantly involving the recladding of high-rise buildings, in which, by their nature, are safety critical works and involve significant fire and general safety risk, with typical project values between £2M and £9M, and of a construction nature. You will be joining a newly formed team specialising in this new workstream which has huge long-term growth opportunity, in which successful applicants will have a huge opportunity to grow and develop as this new workstream evolves.


Key Responsibilities

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will be part of a small team dedicated to the pre-construction and delivery process of either two stage or single stage opportunities. Supporting a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved with the commercial management of all aspects of these opportunities / projects and your key responsibilities will be to effectively manage costs, assist in project reporting, general commercial management of accounts, profitability, and managing risk in a safe, effective & ethical manner.

You will support a Senior Quantity Surveyor in the appointment of consultants and subcontractors, regular financial reporting, processing and administration of applications for payment upstream and downstream, and support managing relationships with the Client and the appointed professional team.


What do we need from you?

Collaborative working with all external and internal stakeholders will be crucial. Whilst experience in cladding and envelope construction is not essential, successful applicants will need to demonstrate good general construction knowledge. Some experience of delivering projects under JCT and NEC Forms of Contract will be required.

The ideal candidate will have a background with a Tier 1 Contractor, and have demonstrable experience with subcontractor evaluations.
