Duties include: Cleaning of site compound facilities including:

Offices

Canteen and kitchen areas

Welfare units and W/Cs

Maintaining high hygiene standards throughout the site facilities

Supporting the site team by keeping welfare areas clean, tidy, and safe

Requirements: No CSCS card required (no site exposure)

Previous cleaning or site welfare experience is preferred but not essential

Reliability and attention to detail are a must

About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Nuclear Waste Engineer to join our Waste Management team. This critical role provides a high-quality, responsive service to support decommissioning projects and site infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a key part in securing the compliant disposal of nuclear waste and supporting the delivery of strategic waste targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver a responsive and effective waste management service to support site decommissioning and infrastructure activities.

Plan and coordinate the compliant disposal of radioactive and non-radioactive waste volumes in line with regulatory and environmental requirements.

Work collaboratively with project teams to integrate waste management strategies into project planning and execution.

Monitor waste streams and contribute to waste characterization, segregation, treatment, and packaging activities.

Liaise with internal stakeholders and external regulators to ensure full compliance with national and site-specific legislation.

Assist in the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to optimize waste processes and reduce overall waste volumes.

Support the delivery of project and site waste management KPIs and reporting requirements.

Skills and Experience:

Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

Demonstrated experience in nuclear waste management or decommissioning projects.

Strong understanding of radioactive waste classification, handling, and disposal routes.

Familiarity with UK waste legislation, environmental compliance, and nuclear site license requirements.

Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary and regulated environment.

Desirable:

Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IMechE, IChemE, or SRP).

Knowledge of Low Level Waste (LLW), Intermediate Level Waste (ILW), and Very Low Level Waste (VLLW) disposal strategies.

Experience working on Nuclear Licensed Sites or within a regulatory framework.
